Remarks

Systematics: Type females of T. orientalis Matesova, 1968, were found to differ from females from Europe and Siberia. However, some individual variability was found within the type series: 7 specimens, including holotype, demonstrate the mentioned characters of T. orientalis, whereas one specimen resembled usual T. perrisii. Danzig and Gavrilov-Zimin determined that body pores and ducts vary widely in number in this species, sometimes in the insects from the same locality. Trionymus tomlini Green, 1925 was regarded as different from T. perrisii only in the presence of a larger circulus with an intersegmental fold. Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin stated that the size and structure of circuli differ widely in this species and the character cannot be used for the species separation. Although the type material of P. pseudoperrisii was lost, this species did not differ from T. perrisii in the original description and figure by Rasina, 1971 and that they structure of cerarii and distribution of multilocular and tubular ducts lie within the range of variation in T. perrisii. They determined that since Pseudococcus calamagrostidis differed from T. perrisii only in having more numerous multilocular pores along the margin of the ventral sephalothorax and in the absence of a circulus, these characters could not be considered as significant to separate the species. Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin (2015) compared syntypes of Trionymus dactylis Green, 1925 with T. perrisii and were unable to find any differences between the two. They also stated that they diagnostic character used in the key of Williams (1962), a smaller number of dorsal multilocular pores in T. dactylis, lies within the range of individual variation of T. perrisii.
Structure: Female body elongate oval, up to 5 mm long, yellow, pink or violet in life. Antennae 8-segmented. Legs normally developed; hind coxae with numerous translucent pores. Anal apparatus complete. Both pairs of ostioles well developed. Circuli 1-5 in number; commonly only one small circulus present; if circuli 3-5 in number, they are significantly larger; sometimes circuli totally absent. (Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin, 2015)
Biology: Living at the base of the leaf sheaths of grasses. Adult females migrate from grasses to oviposit under the bark of dead oak branches in England.
