Remarks
- Systematics: Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin (2014) stated that the intraspecific variability of Phenacoccus piceae overlaps differences between Ph. montanus, Ph. borchsenii and Ph. maritimus and they considered all of them as junior synonyms of Ph. piceae.
- Structure: Adult female is long oval, pink, up to 2.5 mm long and 1.7 mm wide. Body covered with white waxy powder. Ovisac is white and cottony. Antennae 9 segmented. Legs well developed, usually slender, often with denticle on claw. Cerarii 6-7 pairs, 4 pairs on the head, 3 pairs on apex of abdomen, anal lob cerarius with 2 conical setae, 1-2 short setae and 15-20 trilocular pores. Anal lob moderately developed. C1-C3 are not borne on sclerotized plates (Kosztarab and Kozár, 1988).
- Biology: Occurring on the needles of the host plant. Natural enemies listed by Kosztarab & Kozar (1988F). Biology and ecology discussed by Kozarzhevskaya (1992).
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female by Marchal (1908), Sulc (1944a), Tereznikova (1975) and by Danzig (2004). Good description and illustration of the adult female of the synomym Phenacoccus borchsenii given by Matesova (1957), and good description of the adult female given by Tang (1992). Good description and illustration of the adult female of
given by Hadzibejli (1959a). Description and illustration of junior synonym, Phenacoccus maritimus by Danzig (1971, 1980b, 2004).
