Remarks
- Structure: Female scale suboval, 0.75 mm long, 0.55 mm wide; convex; exuviae yellow, eccentric; nymphal exuviae comparatively large; scale texture delicate, colour red; the scale of certain specimens covered with white secretion. Male scale elongate, almost reniform; exuviae eccentric; colour similar to that of female, but slightly paler; 0.9-1 mm long (Leonardi, 1920). Female scale small, circular, abruptly convex at center, flat along margin; colour red; exuviae central; the scale of certain specimens covered with white secretion. Male scale oval, narrower in front, white, exuviae eccentric, 0.9-1.0 mm long (Balachowsky, 1950b). The body shape and cuticle of this diaspidid exhibit a wavy appearance, likely influenced by the velutinous trichome structures on the leaves of Q. ilex? and I.aquifolium. These trichomes act as physical barriers, shaping the growth pattern of the female body and its wax secretions. (Bouguenna, et al., 2026)
