Remarks

• Systematics: Danzig (1978) synonymized the genus Ferrisicoccus with Dysmicoccus, and transferred F. augustus to the latter genus as D. augustus. Some workers, such as Williams (2004), Martin & Lau (2011), Ben-Dov (1999) and Ben-Dov et al. (2013) accepted this treatment, but others, such as Cox (1987), Tang (1992), and Kosztarab (1996) did not. Li, Tsai & Wu supported the latter view and regarded Ferrisicoccus as a valid genus, since the adult female of the type species of this genus, F. augustus, has a bar on the venter of the anal lobe, and each anal lobe cerarius has more than 2 conical setae, whereas species in the genus Dysmicoccus usually lack an anal lobe bar, and each anal lobe cerarius has 2 conical setae. Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin (2015) regarded the presence or absence of an anal lobe bar as a species-level character, ignoring its taxonomic significance at genus level and transferred this species to the genus Paraputo. However, Tanaka (2022) suggested that Paraputo angustus should be placed in the genus Formicococcus since he felt that the presence or absence of anal lobe bars was a taxonomically important character. In addition, he wrote that "The species described by Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin (2015) as P. angustus is probably an un-named species new to science."
• Structure: Body of adult female on slide elongate oval, sides subparallel, about 2.7–3.5 mm long and 0.88–1.34 mm wide. Anal lobes slightly prominent, ventral surface of each lobe with 2 apical setae and with an anal lobe bar; ratio of length of longer apical seta (about 250–290 μm long) on anal lobes to length of anal ring setae 2: 1. Antennae each about 520 μm long, with 8 segments; apical segment longest, with 3 fleshy setae. (Li, Tsai & Wu, 2014)
