Remarks
- Systematics: The fossil shows some characters similar to those found in Burmacoccidae, Kozariidae, Hammanococcidae, and Alacrena. See Vršanský et al (2025) for comparative diagnoses.
- Structure: Alate male: Antenna 10-segmented with scapus and pedicel not enlarged, antennomeres III-X with long, protruding setae, arranged in whorls; compound eyes consisting of few ommatidia; fore wing hyaline, with wrinkled sculpture, with microtrichia only in anterior portion, alar lobe present; pterostigma weak, but present; Sc + R shifted from margin, not reaching forewing tip; ‘rs’ [RP] and ‘afx’ [trace MP] absent; ‘cua’ distinct, long, reaching almost the margin; ‘pfx’ [posterior flexing patch, remnant of CuP] visible; clavus with vein Pcu(?) weak, but visible. Haltera present, elongate, narrow. Legs long, with rows of capitate setae, tarsal claw long and digitules present; abdomen tapering posteriad, long wax filaments from abdominal tergite 7 and 8, penial sheath short(?). (Vršanský et al. 2025)
- Biology: Associated plant material of Aintourine amber included the cheirolepidiaceans Protopodocarpoxylon, Brachyphyllum, Classostrobus, and Classopolis pollen, and the paleoenvironment was reconstructed as a forested temporary swamp habitat with tall araucarian, ginkgoacean trees and shrub ferns, tree ferns, and water ferns. (Vršanský et al 2025).
- General Remarks: Description, illustration, photography, and other analyses by Vršanský et al (2025).
