Remarks
- Structure: Female scale oval, convex, white, 1.8-2.0 mm long. Male scale similar to female, but smaller, 1.2 mm long (Balachowsky, 1953g). This is an almost imperceptible species. Second-instar female nymphs are found on young twigs around mid-May, mostly at the insertion points of pine needles. have a white shield, with the exuviae of the first-instar larva yellow. At this stage, the female body is oval with a rounded pygidium, pale yellow in color, later turning pale brown as they reach adulthood.. The adult female body is enclosed within a membranous cuticle. As the female matures, the exuviae becomes eccentric, initially yellow, and eventually darkens to resemble the black bark of twigs. Adult females with shields lacking exuviae, which appear to have detached, can also be observed. The ventral vellum is well developed. On the trunk, individuals are generally sparse, sometimes clustered. Adult and second-instar females are found on the trunk around mid-August, often parasitized. During this period, adult female cuticles become sclerotized, and most larvae desiccate..(Bougiuenna, et al., 2026).
