Notes: This work compares interesting aspects of cochineal- and BD-based cells, including an analysis of the first (initial) regime of the output current profile, which is linear and of short-duration (≈0.2 s); this 1st regime always appears in all profiles, and is related to the charge transport through the mesoporous between the excited dye and the electrode. The 2nd regime depends on the characteristics and concentration of the ions present in the electrolyte, including the ions Fe2+ and Fe3+; the effect of these ions at the dye-electrolyte interface is discussed, together with the color degradation by solar irradiation.
