Mahbuba, J. 1999 Fecundity and survival of brown soft scale, Coccus hesperidum L. (Homoptera: Coccidae) on Nerium oleander L.. Bangladesh Journal of Entomology 9(1-2): 87-92.

Notes: A tangle-trap sticky barrier method was developed to study the age-specific fecundity of Coccus hesperidum L. on Nerium oleander L. in a growth chamber at 26°C constant temperature. The scale produced an average of 36.4 crawlers/female/day, during the first week of its oviposition period. A female produced a range of 582-725 crawlers in its one-month oviposition period. Crawler production showed a significant linearity with the age of the scale. However, counting the number of crawlers using the tangle-trap method appeared to be an improved way of studying the age-specific fecundity of brown soft scale. The survival percentage of the settled stage of C. hesperidum was almost double that of crawlers.
