Remarks
- Systematics: Nagoyacoccus is similar to the genus Megapulvinaria Yang, 1982 in having a denticle at the widest part of each claw, truncated or bidentate marginal setae, and three types of ventral tubular ducts. However it differs from the genus by the following three character states (character states of
Megapulvinaria in parentheses): (i) only one type of marginal setae is present (two types of marginal setae are present), (ii) supporting bars on the underside of the anal plates are present
(supporting bars on the underside of the anal plates are absent), (iii) only one spinose seta is present along the inner margin of the anal plate (at least two spinose and/or truncated setae are present along inner margin of the anal plate). (Tanaka & Kamitani, 2023a)
- Structure: Adult female. Body broad, oval; stigmatic clefts shallow but distinct. Anal cleft approximately 1/6 of total body length. Nagoyacoccus has a denticle at the widest part of each claw, spinose setae along the inner margin of the anal plate, stoutly spinose truncated or bidentate marginal setae and more than three stigmatic spine in each stigmatic area, and can be considered a typical member of the subfamily Pulvinariscinae Choi & Lee, 2020, although it has supporting bars of anal plates which were not considered a diagnostic morphological character state of the subfamily and the genus can be distinguishable from all known genera of Pulvinariscinae.
