Lobimargo rhipidotrichus Hardy & Gullan 2011: 518. Type data: AUSTRALIA: Australian Capital Territory. Belconnen [35°13'S, 148°58'E], under bark of Eucalyptus sp., October,26, 1978, by D.J. Williams,. Holotype, female, Type depository: Canberra: Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO Entomology, Australia; accepted valid name Notes: Paratype: one adult female, same data as holotype (ANIC).

Systematics: Adult females of L. rhipidotrichus would be difficult to confuse with any other scale insect, owing to the very distinctive, fan-shaped dorsal setae. Adult females of L. rhipidotrichus can be further distinguished from the remaining species of Lobimargo by the truncate to blunt apices of the setae forming the marginal fringe (if marginal fringe present in other species, it is composed of setae with acute apices). It also appears as though the anal ring in this species is slightly invaginated. (Hardy, et al., 2011)
Structure: Adult female: body outline lobate; length 3.1–3.2 mm, greatest width 1.6–1.8 mm. Eyes 55 μm wide. Antennae seven segmented;length 300–322 μm; with three hair-like setae on segment I, two hair-like setae on segment II, no hair-like setae on segment III, two hair-like setae on segment IV, one fleshy seta on segment V, two hair-like setae + one fleshy seta on segment VI and five hair-like setae + three fleshy setae on segment VII.
