Remarks

- Structure: In life, scales on bark of mature twigs of Berberis trigona, oval, appearing white, mainly due to white patina of wax on exuviae of second instar exuviae; some individuals under plant epithelium, thus taking on bark color; body of live female purple. On microscope slide, 830 to 850 μm long, 490 to 500 μm wide at full maturity, with sclerotized cephalothorax, teneral females smaller, broadest at mesothorax. Body outline obovate; cuticle of cephalothorax and posterior end of abdomen (segments VIII, VII, and part of VI) sclerotized at full maturity. All abdominal segments (I–VIII) free; none fused. Antenna simple, with 4 setae. Anterior spiracle with 1 to 5 quinquelocular disc pores; posterior spiracle with 0 to 6 pores. (Normark et al. 2025)
