Systematics: Tang (1992, p. 62) introduced Rhizoecus ornatoides as a Replacement Name for Rh. ornatus Borchsenius, 1949, which was a junior homonym of Rhizoecus ornatus Hambleton, 1946a. However, Kozár & Konczné Benedicty (2007, p. 288) placed R. ornatus Hambleton in Benedictycoccina, thus the homonymy case was settled. Therefore, Kozár & Konczné Benedicty (2007) re-established the name Rhizoecus ornatus Borchsenius, 1949.
Structure: Female antennae 6-segmented. Ostioles well-developed. Circulus conical. Anal lobes with large flat, sclerotized plate with 3 long and 1 short flagellate setae. Multilocular pores located on two or three posterior abdominal sternites. Bitubular ducts (erroneously named as large trilocular pores in the descriptions of Borchsenius and ter-Grigorian and a tritubular in Kozár & Konczné Benedicty, equal to multilocular pores in size, forming transverse rows on dorsal body surface and sparsely present on venter.
