Remarks
- Systematics: Main characteristics (adult female) of this genus are: elongate body; membranous derm; 11-segmented antenna; absence of mouth parts; seven pairs of abdominal spiracles; absence of ventral cicatrices (Vayssiere, 1926; Morrison, 1928).
Koteja (1996a: 68), Hodgson & Gounari (2006) and Hodgson & Foldi (2006) assigned this genus to the family Marchalinidae. Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, resurrected the tribe Coelostomidiini within the family Margarodidae to place the genus Marchalina in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Callipappinae (Coelostomidia, KCrambostoma, Eremostoma,Marchalina, Neocoelostoma, Paramoandesia and Protortonia)
- General Remarks: Definition and characters by Vayssière (1923, 1926), Ferris (1925), Morrison (1928), Borchsenius (1950b) and by Hodgson & Gounari (2006).
