Remarks
- Systematics: Lineaspis striata is unusual in having small L1 and large inner lobules of L2. A distantly related diaspidid genus (Cupidaspis MacGillivray) on the same host taxon (Cupressaceae) has converged on a similar phenotype. (Normark, et al., 2019)
- Structure: Female scale pear-shaped, sometimes curved, convex, white, 1.5-2.0 mm long and 0.8 mm wide; larval exuviae yellow. Adult female nearly oval, convex. Pygidium wide, posterior end of pygidium slightly concave (Borchsenius, 1949b).
- Biology: The scale is oviparous, hibernated as pre-ovipositing female adult and completed three generations per year. The start of oviposition of the hibernated females was recorded in May in Greece, in July and in September (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation, respectively). The average fecundity was 50 eggs. (Stathas, et al. 2023)
- Economic Importance: Miller & Davidson (1990) list this insect as a pest.
- General Remarks: Detailed descriptions and illustrations by Borchsenius (1949b) and Balachowsky (1954e).
