Structure: Colour photo of adult female by Peronti et al. (2008). The body exhibits a brown to dark coloration. It is ovoid or convex when viewed dorsally, while appearing semicircular or conical from the lateral perspective. The body comprises nine plates: one dorsal plate that is larger than the others, six smaller lateral plates that are relatively well-defined (three on each side), all featuring a dark and distinct contour; in addition, there is one anterior plate and one posterior plate. The caudal process is short and extends horizontally toward the posterior region. The wax layer is thin, rigid, and displays a light purple or grayish-white coloration. Dimensionally, the specimens measure (mm) 2.42–4.09 in length, 1.81–3.27 in width, and 0.90–2.72 in height. (Soares et al., 2026)
