Remarks
- Systematics: Aulacaspis madiunensis is close to Aulacaspis tegalensis, but the latter has a rounded prosoma, whereas in A. madiunensis the prosoma is angled, with lateral tubercles (Williams & Watson, 1988). A. madiunensis and A. takarai are very similar, and undoubtedly closely related.
- Structure: Prosoma swollen to such an extent as to become distinctly broader than metathorax, trapezoid in rough outline, with lateral margins oblique and straight; prosomatic tubercles slightly produced at most; abdominal segment II strongly lobed laterally, as broad as metathorax, abdominal segment I recessed beetween them. (Takagi, 2015)
- Economic Importance: Dammerman (1929) reports this as a pest of sugarcane in Java. This species has not been found on sugarcane in the South Pacific, but could be a potential pest (Williams & Watson, 1988). Miller & Davidson (1990) list this insect as a pest.
- General Remarks: Detailed description and illustration by Kuwana (1926). Subsequent description and illustration by Williams & Watson (1988). Detailed redescription of female and second instar male and illustration in Takagi, 2015.
