Holotype, female, Type depository: Washington: United States National Entomological Collection, U.S. National Museum of Natural History, District of Columbia, USA; junior homonym (discovered by Willia2017, 129). Notes: Phenacoccus hirsutus Granara de Willink (Granara de Willink & Szumik, 2007: 73) was described from Puerto Rico on Corchorus hirsutus. The scale insect name is a junior homonym of Phenacoccus hirsutus Green, currently Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Green) described originally by Green (1908: 25) from India on an undetermined shrub.
