Remarks
- Systematics: Antennae 6-segmented (7-segmented in N hydnophytum); with a marginal fringe of long flagellate setae accompanied by a concentration of trilocular pores (absent in N hirsuta); cerarii absent (present in N hydnophytum); ventral multilocular pores in thorax limited to a few near mouthparts and coxae or absent (ventral multilocular pores in thorax numerous in submedial areas around coxae in N hirsuta); ventral oral collar tubular ducts present in two small groups on SVII and SVIII (present in transverse bands across abdominal segments and scattered on margins and submargins in N hydnophytum); anal ring with 6 setae (with 10-12 setae in N hydnoplzytum). (von Ellenrieder, 2018)
- Structure: Dark yellowish-brown in specimens in alcohol, blackishbrown covered with white powdery wax in dry specimens (Takahashi 1939). Appearance in life unknown. Slide mounted female body approximately hemispherical, sub-circular in contour, slightly longer than wide, 2.8 ± 0.6 (2.1-3.7) [3.9] mm long, maximum width (at mesothorax) 2.5 ± 0.6 (1.9-3.6) [3.6] mm. Anal lobes not developed. (von Ellenrieder, 2018) First instar nymph body contour oval to pyriform, 1.1 ± 0.2 (0.9-1.3) mm long, maximum width (at metathorax) 0.7 ± 0.1 (0.6--0.9) mm. Anal lobes protruding slightly, delimited at anterior and posterior margins by a small incision, margin appearing sinuate, with a sub-rectangular ventro-posterior sclerotization present and one to three robust apical setae, (von Ellenrieder, 2018)
- Biology: The inescts were protected in shelters made by the ant Camponotus irritans subsp. Several of the larger adult females from the type series contain first-instar nymphs inside the body, indicating that N esakii is ovoviviparous or viviparous. (von Ellenrieder, 2018)
