Remarks
- Systematics: Hemiberlesia crescentiae could be confused with Comstockaspis perniciosa however, these species are easy to differentiate in slide mounts by the number of well-developed pygidial lobes. Hemiberlesia crescentiae only has L1 developed, whereas Co. perniciosa has both L1 and L2 visible. (Lazaro et al., 2023)
- Structure: Scale of the female is circular, rather highly convex, white, composed of brittle and rather crystalline wax, exuviae central, ventral scale strongly developed. Scale of the male elongate, white, exuvia at one hand (Ferris, 1938a).
- Biology: Occurring on the bark (Ferris, 1938a). The scale was collected on branches, of Fuerte, Kila and Mexicano 1 avocados, where it occurred singly. (Lazaro et al., 2023)
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female by Ferris (1938a).
