Remarks
- Systematics: Eriococcus parvispinus Goux 1948 is preoccupied by Eriococcus parvispinus Chaffin 1923. Lindinger (1957) proposed Nidularia parvisetus as a replacement name. Nidularia parviseta was coined by Lindinger (1957) as a replacement/substitute name for the permanently invalid (primary homonym) Eriococcus parvispinus Goux, 1948, and Lindinger gave no further details. It appears to be a noun in apposition (meaning small-bristle, roughly), so should not be modified for gender to match its genus. (personal communication David Nicolson, Integrated Taxonomic Information System Biologist, USGS)
- Structure: Adult female at time of sac formation is reddish orange and varies throughout the life cycle (Goux, 1948).
- General Remarks: Detailed description and illustrations of all stages by Goux (1948). Redescription and illustrations of adult female in Kozár, et al., 2013. Kozar, et al. was published in January 2013 and the paper by Pellizzari and Williams was published in September of 2013, making it the latest combination published.
