Coccus gummi laccae Goeze 1778: 342. unidentified species Notes: Goeze listed this name as a trinomen and quoted earlier works, which discussed the lac insect as a vernacular name. Lindinger (1933a: 228) discussed the name as Coccus gummilaccae Goeze and stated that the insect in its new combination of Tachardia gummilaccae (Goeze) should be accepted as an earlier name for Tachardia lacca (Kerr, 1782), described originally as Coccus lacca Kerr. Because Goeze's name was a trinomen, any action by Lindinger to resurrect Goeze's name as a binomen cannot be accepted (Williams & Ben-Dov, 2009: 25).
