 Remarks

        - Systematics: Brimblecombe (1960) regarded this genus as related to Matsucoccus, but indicated that it differed in the markedly larger size of the female, absence of cicatrices and inhabiting a large induced gall. The main characteristics (adult female) of this genus are: large (up to 22 mm long) and membranous; antennae 9-segmented; mouthparts atrophied; with seven pairs of abdominal spiracles; legs well-developed; tarsus one-segmented; anterior region of abdomen constricted; anal opening atrophied.
Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, resurrected the tribe Steingeliini to place the genus Araucaricoccus in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Xylococcinae (Araucaricoccus, Conifericoccus, Steingelia, and Stomacoccus)
- General Remarks: Good definition and characters given by Brimblecombe (1960).
