Brimblecombe (1957) stated that Achorophora resembles several genera such as Pseudaonidia in that the female has a constricted thorax, a chitinized body, and perispiracular pores near the anterior spiracles, but differs from all other genera in the Pseudaonidia group in the oblique duct orifices.
