ScaleNet creators / developers
ScaleNet was conceived of by Dug Miller, Yair Ben-Dov, and Gary Gibson. In 2009-2010 ScaleNet was remodeled and re-implemented by Nate Hardy.
Dug has recently retired from the Systematic Entomology Laboratory, Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, Maryland, USA. During his 27 year career as a coccidologist he has published more that 85 scientific journal articles and book chapters.
Yair is a Senior Research Entomologist at the Agricultural Research Organization, The Volcani Center, Israel Department of Entomology, Bet Dagan, Israel. He worked from 1972 to 1977 on scale insects at the National Collection of Insects, Pretoria, South Africa. During his 35 year career as a coccidologist, he has published more than 150 scientific articles and books.
Gary led the research team that developed the database programme BASIS (Biological and Systematic Information System) which was modified for use in the original version of ScaleNet.
Nate is an entomologist working for the state of Queensland, Australia.
