Zhang, S.Y. 1983 [Observations on the effectiveness of the natural control of Chilocorus kuwanae Silvestri (Col.: Coccinellidae) against two species of scales in the orchard.]. Natural Enemies of Insects 5(2): 86-88.
Notes: Observations were made in an orchard in Hebei Province, China, in 1981-82 on the natural control of Pseudaulacaspis pentagona (Targ.) and Quadraspidiotus perniciosus (Comst.) by Chilocorus kuwanae Silv. In the case of P. pentagona, the percentage reduction in injury levels caused by adults of the overwintering and 1st generations was 6.7-67.9 in an untreated (natural control) area and 53.5 in an area treated with chemical pesticides. In the case of Q. perniciosus, the percentage reduction in the numbers of 1st-generation adults and 2nd-generation nymphs in an untreated area was 87 and 60, respectively.
