Notes: Pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. Bromeliaceae) is one of the tropical fruit plants favored by many people around the world. However, several environmental factors, including mealybugs (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae) contribute to yield loss and therefore lower productivity. This study aims to determine the species of mealybug associated with pineapple in some areas on the Sunda shelve, including Enggano Island as an outermost island of Indonesia. This study evaluated 84 mealybug specimens resulting in the identification of seven species in three genera i.e. Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell), Dysmicoccus lepelleyi (Betrem), Dysmicoccus neobrevipes Beardsley, Formicococcus polysperes Williams, Planococcus dischidiae (Takahashi), Planococcus nilgiricus Williams, and a species new to science, Planococcus sosromarsonoi Zarkani & Kaydan sp. nov. Formicococcus polysperes and P. nilgiricus are new country records for the Indonesian fauna. In addition, D. lepelleyi, F. polysperes, P. dischidiae, P. kraunhiae, and P. nilgiricus are for the first time recorded on Bromeliaceae. Included are distribution information and illustrations of the mealybug species, and a morphological taxonomic key for Planococcus species of Southeast and Southern Asia.
