Xu, C., Zhou, D., & Wu, X. 1995 Studies on occurrence and control of Lepidosaphes cupressi Borchsenius on Myrica rubra.. Journal of Nanjing Forestry University 18(4): 57-62.
Notes: Morphological and biological studies of Lepidosaphes cupressi Borchsenius (Homoptera) were made. This scale mainly parasitized on the leaf or branch of a one- or two-year growth myrica tree, and it multiplied two generations a year in the Taihu area of Jiangsu Province. The fertilized female adult passed through the winter. The average number of eggs laid by an overwintering female adult was 93.21. The number of eggs laid by the first generation female adult was smaller than that of the overwintering generation, and averaged 60.22 C. The most suitable temperature for its growth and development was between 20 C and 26 C. Temperatures higher than 27 C and relative humidity lower than 80% were disadvantageous to the growth and development of the eggs and nymphs. Chemicals and mechanical controls were adopted effectively to control this pest. The dominant natural enemies are identified.
