Xu, M.X., & Min, Q.C. 1982 Studies on Aphytis chrysomphali (Mercet) (Hym.: Aphelinidae), a parasite of Unaspis yanonensis Kuwana (Hom.: Diaspididae).. Natural Enemies of Insects 4(4): 19-21.
Notes: Laboratory studies were carried out in Zhejiang Province, China, in 1978-81 on the biology of Aphytis chrysomphali (Merc.), an egg parasite of the citrus pest Unaspis yanonensis (Kuw.). Both the egg and larval stages of the aphelinid averaged 8 days at 26øC, the pupal stage 4.5-5 days at 26øC and the adult stage 4-4.5 days at 26-30øC; adult life-span could be prolonged by 2.5-3.0 days by feeding on sugar solution. Parasite pupae could tolerate direct pesticide applications; it was recommended therefore that applications should be made to citrus when the parasite is in the pupal stage. The effects of weather on the parasite are discussed.
