Notes: This study uses molecular methods to clarify the relationships among different population of P. solenopsis from China, USA, Pakistan, India, and Vietnam to determine the geographic origin of the introduction of this species into China. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that most P. solenopsis mealybugs in Southern China are probably closely related to populations in Pakistan and that the source of the populations of P. solenopsis in Southern China might have originated from Pakistan instead of the USA. . The variation, relationship, expansion, and probable geographic origin of P. solenopsis mealybugs in Southern China are also discussed.
