dos Santos Wolff, V.R., & Claps, L.E. 2008 Redescription of Diaspidistis Hempel, 1900 and new combinations of four Pseudoparlatoria species (Hemiptera: Coccoidea).. Proceedings of the XI International Symposium on Scale Insect Studies, Oeiras, Portugal, 24-27 September 2007. ISA Press Lisbon, Portugal 322 pp.
Notes: The taxonomy of the genus Pseudoparlatoria Cockerell, 1892, (Diaspididae) has been studied by Wolff and it is to be published in 2008. It redescribed 25 species, presents two new combinations, and describes 10 new species. Adult females of this genus have spiracles without associated disc pores, and the marginal ducts are wider than the submarginal ducts. The species Pseudoparlatoria gomescostai Lepage & Giannotti, 1946, Pseudoparlatoria memorabilis Ferris, 1941, Pscudoparlatoria multipunctata Lepage & Giannotti, 1946, and Pseudoparlatoric petasata Ferris, 1942, all have disc pores associated with the anterior spiracles, and the Size of the marginal and submarginal ducts is similar. Hempel (1900) presented a brief description of Diaspidistis, which includes Diaspidistis multilobis Hempel, 1900, and Diaspidistis squamosa( Hempel, 1937. Fonseca (1969) presented an original illustration of the microscopic characten of D. squamosa (although some characters do not match the type-material). Ferris (1942 described P. petasata based only a single badly-prepared slide of an adult female. He suggested that the characters of this species are close to Diaspidistis although the original description and illustration are lacking in detail and are unclear. Their systematic position should be revise in detail. Pseudoparlatoria gomescostai, P. memorabilis, P. multipunctata and P. petasata have been studied and we intend to transfer these species to the genus Diaspidistis.
