Notes: Summary. - In the work by Brandt & Ratzeburg, 1833, we confirm that only Brandt was responsible for describing the genus Porphyrophora and two species. We also discuss Coccus rosae, described by Virey in 1821, and we establish that it is identical with Aspidiotus rosae Bouché, described in 1833. We propose, therefore, the following synonymy: the name Coccus rosae Virey, 1821, to be a nomen oblitum and the name Aspidiotus rosae Bouché to be a nomen protectum n. syn.
