Wentzel, P.C. 1970 [The mass-rearing of red scale, Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell).]. Phytophylactica 2: 195-198.

Notes: Host plants used for this experiment were green lemons, green grapefruit, potato tubers and flat white pumpkins (Cucurbita maxima). Conditions such as cages and temperatures were discussed. The percentage settling, mortality and duration of the different stages were determined. The crawler production for the different treatments is given in table form. Potato tubers are not recommended for mass-rearing of red scale in South Africa.
