Wang, X.M., & Zao, Y.L. 1983 [A preliminary study of Beijinga utila, a natural enemy of the Chinese scholartree coccid]. Ningxia Agricultural Science and Technology Ningxia Nongye Keji (No. 5): 22-24.
Notes: The heliodinid Beijinga utila Yang was found beneath the scales of the important forest pest Eulecanium kuwanai Kanda in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, in 1979; parasitism ranged up to 40%. Studies in 1981-82 showed that the parasite had one generation a year. The adults were present in May, the larvae hatched in mid-May and completed their development by mid-June; the pupae began to overwinter in mid-August. It is suggested that chemical measures for the control of the pest should be applied when the parasite is in the pupal stage and protected beneath the scale. At low concentrations, insecticides such as oxy-dimethoate (of unstated compostition) and dichlorvos (DDVP) did not adversely affect parasites beneath the scales.
