Viggiani, G. 1989 Su alcuni insetti fitofagi di attualita. [Some novel insect pests.]. Informatore Agrario 45(28): 63-64.

Notes: Some insects, whether they are indigenous or introduced, remain unobserved at low densities for long periods of time but then have an unexpected population explosion. In other cases, some pests usually of secondary economic importance assume a population level that requires control measures. Notes are given on three insect pests in Italy that fall into these categories: the diaspidid Aonidiella aurantii on citrus, the aleyrodid Bemisia tabaci on ornamental plants and the curculionid Otiorhynchus trophonius on apple. Methods of controlling the pests are discussed.
