Notes: The Kiri, Paulownia fortunei, is an exotic species recently introduced in Brazil. It is largely used for industry thanks to its rapid growth and to the properties and characteristics of the wood produced. It must, however, be considered that the transfer from its natural habitat to a neotropical region has exposed this species to different plagues, some of them being very pernicious. Considering the insects, the "louse of Sao Jose, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus (Comstock, 1881), attacks the plants in vivaria causing damages and sometimes destroying the young plants in a few days. This paper, describing the adult insect and the damage it produces, will be useful to identify this plague in the vivaria.
