Vahedi, H.A., & Hodjat, S.H. 1996 An outline of the morphology and bio-ecology of Prophyrophora tritici (BOD.) (Homoptera, Margarodidae).. The Scientific Journal of Agriculture Shahid Chamran Univ. Press (Iran Islamic Republic) 18(1/2):
Notes: Prophyrophora tritici (Bod.) feeds on the root and collar of wheat, barley Bromus and Sorghum in Kermanshah. It produces scars on the feeding region and infested plants are weaker and produce less grain. The morphology, biology and behaviour of P. tritici was studied in the field and under laboratory conditions. Most damage was observed in non-irrigated fields. Damage in irrigated fields was negligible. In 1989 the peak population was 32.5 per meter in Marzaleh in mid May. Overwintering was in nymph form in the soil. Lithophillus sp. (Coccinellidae) and Tyrophagus putresentiae (Acarina) are among its common predators in the region.
