Notes: Diaspidiotus mccombi was collected for the first time in the state of Alabama in 1975 when it was found infesting Pinus taeda at Auburn in Lee County. In June 1977 this species was collected on pine in Randolph County, together with Chionaspis heterophyllae, which were new county records. Further new country records of armoured scale insects in Alabama comprised collections of Acutaspis morrisonorum on P. taeda in Tallapoosa County and on P. echinata in Elmore County in 1977, and of C. nyssae on Nyssa sylvatica in Randolph County in the same month. Eurycoccus jessica was collected on mockernut hickory (Carya tomentosa in Alabama in 1977, and this is a new record for this mealybug.
