Notes: A survey was undertaken to determine the pest status of the diaspidid Melanaspis glomerata in sugarcane in Rajasthan, India. The pest was not found in 315 ha examined. There are fears that M. glomerata may enter the area due to frequent transportation of sugarcane from other parts of the country, and it is suggested that quarantine measures are enforced and that surveys are conducted periodically to monitor the pest in Rajasthan.
