Notes: Some problems associated with the introduction in the USSR of parasitic Chalcidoidea for biological control of insect pests and ticks are reviewed. Examples of pest control through ecesis (accidental dispersal and establishment of entomophagues) of chalcids are given. Successful introduction and attempts with uncertain results are listed. A list of chalcids which deserve introduction against different pests belonging mainly to Coccoidea is given. The term acclimatization only covers the autecological aspects of establishment of an organism in a new region. For synecological introduction, i.e., the introduction of an organism into a new biocenosis, the term ingression is suggested.
