Tashiro, H., Gieselmann, M.J., & Roelofs, W.L. 1979 Residual activity of a California red scale synthetic pheromone component.. Environmental Entomology 8: 931-934.

Notes: A synthetic pheromone component of the California red scale, Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), (3Z,6R)-3-methyl-6-isopropenyl-3,9-decadien-1-yl acetate, dispensed from rubber septa showed no loss of attractancy in bioassays over a 16-week period with original doses of 10-, 100-, and 1000-µg dose in the shade did not. Ten- and 100-µg charged septa held constantly at 43 degreesC showed only slight loss of attraction while the 1000-µg septa showed no loss in 6 weeks. When held at 54 degreesC, the 10- and 100 µg charged septa showed ca. 25% loss while the 1000-µg septa showed little or no loss of attractancy.
