Notes: O. acuta adults and eggs were treated with 6 (25, 27, 19, 32, 35 and 37°C) and 9 (19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 32, 35 and 37°C) temperature regimes, respectively, to determine the effect of constant temperature on a population of O. acuta in an artificial weather house. The temperature significantly affected the mortality, egg number laid per female and fecundity of the adults. The effective cumulative temperature and low development threshold of the egg was 153.31 day-degrees and 6.64°C, respectively, with the optimum temperature recorded at 29°C. Generally temperature had no effect on the hatch rate of eggs, but eggs under very high temperature (35-37°C) did not hatch. The results of the experiment, coinciding with the results of investigations in a forest, indicated that the significant decrease in the O. acuta population during summer was caused by high temperature.
