Notes: This species, a native of South America, was probably introduced with infested plants. Its activity induces malformations in various species of ornamental Cactaceae of the genera Astrophytum, Cephalocereus, Espostoa and Echinopsis, with irreversible damages and serious economical loss for the growers. A few morphological characteristics and the biological behaviour of the coccid have been described. Chemical treatments are discussed.
