Notes: The distribution of Orthezia praelonga in Brazil, where it is an important pest of citrus, is briefly reviewed, together with external morphology, food-plants, injuriousness and control of the scale insect; it appears to have been found Sao Paulo for the first time in 1978. The control measures discussed include chemical control, biological control, mechanical control and legislation prohibiting the movement of infested plant material; it is thought advisable that control measures against this pest should be made a legal requirement in all the states in which it occurs or is likely to occur.
