Stanev, M., & Delinska, N. 1989 [Flight of males of San Jose scale, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus Comst. (Homoptera; Diaspididae).]. Rasteniev'dni Nauki 26(6): 85-91.

Notes: Review of previous methods to determine the flight of Q. perniciosus males. Synthetic sex pheromone baits are easily applied, require low labour consumption, and provide precise information about the dynamics of flight. It may also be used to examine fruit plantations for Q. perniciosus infection. The flight of the males of the first (wintering) generation begins at the end of April or the beginning of May, and coincides with the blossom fall of the Stanley plum cultivar. The flight of the second generation begins at the end of June or the beginning of July, includes a greater number, lasts longer, and overlaps with that of the third generation. The flight of the third begins in the second half of August or the beginning of September and lasts until the end of October.
