Notes: [Original title: Eficacia de algunos plaguicidas sobre los coccidos diaspinos Lepidosaphes beckii (Newman) y Parlatoria pergandii Comstock (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) en cítricos y efectos secundarios.] The effectiveness of 15 pesticides (insecticides, insect growth regulators and mineral oils) was evaluated against Lepidosaphes beckii and Parlatoria pergandii in Citrus orchards in Spain, during 1990-93. Non-target effects on other pests, including the pseudococcid Planococcus citri and the margarodid Icerya purchasi, and against the predatory phytoseiid Euseius stipulatus were also evaluated. Chlorpyrifos at 48% a.i. and pyriproxyfen at 10% a.i., alone and in mixture with mineral oils, and mineral oils at 2% were the most effective treatments against L. beckii, giving over 85% control. Chlorfenvinphos, methidathion and quinalphos were the most effective against P. pergandii, giving >80% control. Some control of P. citri was obtained with the best products for L. beckii. Fenoxycarb promoted increase in the population of I. purchasi to above its level in the untreated control. The majority of the products used showed low toxicity on the phytoseiid E. stipulatus.
