Notes: Investigations, mainly in Zaire, on the biology, injuriousness and control (by cultural, chemical and biological measures and by breeding for resistance) of Phenacoccus manihoti Matile-Ferrero on cassava are reviewed. The results so far indicate that a long-lasting solution to the problems caused by the mealybug may be in sight, and can be achieved through an integrated control approach.
