Segarra-Carmona, A., & Cabrera-Asencio, I. 2010 Paratachardina pseudolobata (Hemiptera: Coccoidea: Kerriidae): a new invasive scale insect in Puerto Rico. Journal of Agriculture of the University of Puerto Rico 94(1/2): 179-181

Notes: P. pseudolobata was observed on Garcinia intermedia in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, on 6 August 2008. Subsequent findings were made in Carolina on 18 September 2008, and the pest was found infesting Indian almond (Terminalia catappa) and white-mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa). Individuals of P. pseudolobata were also detected on a single java plum (Syzygium cumini) at the University of Puerto Rico campus in Mayagüez on 20 February 2009. Preliminary inspection of the affected tree indicated a low level of infestation, with only a few inner twigs affected. This is the first record for this scale insect family in Puerto Rico. The morphology, taxonomy and host range of P. pseudolobata are briefly covered.
