Samuel, S.D., Venkatesulu, K., & Chacko, M.J. 1981 Influence of insecticides on Cryptolaemus montrouzieri. 1. Effect of residues of Cythion, Ekalux, Lebaycid and Metacid on grub.. Journal of Coffee Research 11(4): 126-128.

Notes: Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Muls. is a useful predator of mealybugs (Planococcus spp.) in coffee plantations in India, especially in Wynad, Kerala. In tests to determine the harmful effects on the predator of chemical treatments applied to control Coccus viridis (Green) on coffee, larvae of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri were confined with coffee leaves taken from seedlings previously sprayed with 0.05% malathion, 0.015% quinalphos, 0.04% fenthion or 0.03% parathion-methyl. Mealybugs were provided as prey. All the compounds were toxic to the larvae; mortality was heavy on leaves treated up to 21 days previously.
