Notes: The entomogenous fungus Verticillium lecanii (Zimm.) Viegas was evaluated as a biological control agent of citrus black scale, Saissetia oleae (Oliver), in Sicily. Conidial suspensions of the fungus were sprayed on orange trees in citrus groves infested by the scale. In some cases up to more than 80% of scales were parasitized by the fungus. Heavier infestations were observed during winter.
