[Insects associated with Douglas fir in the Apennines.]. Annali-dell'Istituto-Sperimentale-per-la-Selvicoltura 24: 49-62.

Notes: [Progetto finalizzato MAF 'Arboricoltura da legno', sottoprogetto 'Conifere'.] A synoptic list is presented of the most important phytophagous insects observed on Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii, in plantations and natural regeneration in the Apennines, central Italy. Trophic niches are noted for the pest species collected, and two groups are recognized, based on plant vigour: (A) communities of insects active on vigorous plants; and (B) communities of insects active on dying or dead plants. There are brief descriptions of outbreaks and damage due to pests such as Gilletteella coweni [Adelges cooleyi], Haematoloma dorsatum, Nuculaspis abietis, Lepidosaphes newsteadi, Hylobius abietis, Ditula angustiorana, Thaumetopoea pityocampa, Pityogenes bidentatus, Pityophthorus pityographus.
